Shelf for Chest Freezer

I have a small chest freezer that I've never used the full depth of. It's just too hard my wife and I in late 70's sort thru layers to get to the bottom. For the past 10 yrs I've had two 5 gallon peanut oil jugs in the bottom that served the purpose. I'm tossing the peanut oil and would like to build shelf. I assume there needs to be air circulation so I don't want to totally seal the top section from the bottom. Any suggestions of what material to use for a shelf? Thanks for any ideas.

Yeah I think Lowes has Rubbermaid wire shelves too. Found in the closet organizing aisles... they come in different depths. Cut them to the length you need. They have rubber end caps for the cut ends if you want.

My freezer has some lips molded into the liner. I cut pieces of PVC sheet for a shelf. Since it doesn't "seal off" a portion of the freezer there is still plenty of air circulation without doing anything special.

You could build a simple wood shelf, it's cold, nothing will happen to the wood once it freezes!

Thanks

Appreciate the ideas. I have lots of scrap plywood so maybe it will be ok if it doesn't fit perfectly at the edges.
