Trying to decide between washing machines

Well I think 25 years is enough for my old Whirlpool. Besides I can take it apart and perhaps give some parts of it a resurrection. Anyway, I am down to 2 Maytag models. I want a top loader/agitator and no bells and whistles. I don't want my phone to tell Alexa to call my wife to text my kids that the laundry is done. Basic machine that I won't need to learn a computer OS to fix. I am looking at the Maytag MVWC465 vs. MVWC565. Anybody have any experience with these two models. I have spoken to several "appliance experts" over the phone but they are semi-decent at reading the same spec sheet I was.

Then you probably don't want that refrigerator model that scans the food as you put it in and has a camera so you can take a look when your at the store and cant remember if you need OJ?

I'm shocked that there is actually someone else out there that thinks it's ridiculous to have appliances, blinds, lights, thermostats, door bells connected to the internet.

Definitely stay away from front load washers, they are destine to failure.

FWIW, bought spousal unit an LG front loader several years back and she loves it. Took a quick look at Consumer Reports. The 565 scores a "62" and the 465 a "57" in the top loader category. Their top rated in top-loading agitator is at "74".

Thanks for the info. I would think they would score lower in that the front loaders are more efficient and seems to do better at cleaner. Also, they don't have the features of other machines and are not energy star rated. I just want a simple machine that I can fix if it goes off. Also I am a pretty simple guy with simple needs. Thankfully my wife and 2 daughters are a bit the same. All we ever really do is decide on size, cold or warm, and that's it. They also decide what not to put in the dryer. I don't which has added several stories to our family lore.

While I am not a Luddite I think technology has it's place but I am tired of all this cloud control, etc. I have dabbled in smart home and am in the process of redoing it all without depending on any cloud services. All internal network control.

Front loader dirct drive all the way for me... No bells or whistles.. My LG dirct drive front load were 20 years old when I sold house up north. Now I have samsung directs.

10 year warranty. Cleans close best.

I would never own anything but a front loader

Ditto. We had top loading agitators for decades but fell in love with the Lg direct drive front-loader.
