I just came across this concept, to install Hard Start Kit for Refrigerators. I have two Whirlpool that are older but still work. If this would help them keep running or something is it a good idea to install these? How do I know the correct ones to buy?
Will they work..... yes.
Not something I recommend.
I don't see the need to push the compressor needlessly.
Fridge compressor don't have the same type of load that central A/C's have.
If it's an old fridge and it's having a hard time starting reliably... then go for it.
The units run just fine. Further question...how can you tell if it's having a hard time starting?
Two, one of the refrigerators used to get noticeably warm in the middle where the doors close, right side about half way up from the bottom. These are side refrigerator types. I added a small fan in the back with a timer controller 30 min. on & 10 min. off. Helped a lot and seem to have gone back to normal warm to ouch. What is the source of hotness issue?
Yes in this instance if it ain't broke don't fix it,
Because the fix may break it.
A compressor that is having trouble starting may hum then stop and then try to startagain,
This is the compressor overheating, the thermal trip then opens, compressor cools, thermal trrp closes and compressor tries to start again.
Some units have a freon coil in the door divider it normally is warm. This helps prevent condensation.
If the condenser coil is not working correctly (dirty or poor air circulation) then it can get too hot.
Some units use an electrical heating cable.
Yours sounds like the former.
You are right, it has dirty bottoms. Time for a clean up.
Appreciate your succinct description. It kicks on just fine, when starting, no hesitation. Seems a good clean up is all the attention it needs from me.
Thanx guys.
We have a Bosch Dishwasher (shp65tl5uc) that runs fine. My wife notices everything and noticed there's water pooling at the bottom drain. Not sure but we're thinking should this always drain completely or is this expected? I'll upload a picture from my phone below. thanks in advance!

Hello,
My refrigerator GE French Door Model GFE28GSKHSS is about 4 years old. Last week, I couldn't move the last drawer because of ice built up. The top was warm, but the bottom has ice built up. I unplugged the power and defrost it for 48 hours. It is cool for a few days. Now, the ice started to built up in the vents behind the drawer as in picture attached. I cleaned up all dust on the back too.
I don't know what other issues it has and how to fix it?
Thanks.
