An over performing Whirlpool fridge!
Hi all,
I have a Whirlpool WRT318FZDM fridge freezer, only 4 years old.
These past couple of years the fridge has been freezing stuff, milk, juices etc. The thermostat is all the way down.
Now the fridge if freezing and the freezer is thawing! It's like the anti fridge. :-)
Anyone heard of this?

There are two thermistors that monitor temperature. One is in fridge and one in freezer. Usually with two sensors there is an automatic air damper. There is not with yours. The cold comes from the evaporator coil and fan in the freezer. The damper is a manual control that you set min to max. That adjusts how much air flows into the fridge. Typically with this type of a setup.... the thermostat monitors the freezer temp and that controls the compressor.
In your system... the fridge thermistor seems to be monitoring the temp. That means based on the damper setting.... the fridge could be getting too much cold air shutting down the compressor early causing the freezer to get warm. You could have a defective thermistor too.
