Ice maker flapper not opening

The flapper/door on my in door Samsung fridge ice maker isn't opening when I press the ice dispense lever. I do hear a click when I start and stop that I believe is for opening/closing the flapper. I can open the flapper with my fingers manually.

I watched a video on how to replace the flapper. My question is, is there anything else I should do before ordering one? Are there any other troubleshooting steps? There isn't much to the flapper to fail so I am guessing it is the spring? I don't know if there is a flapper motor on this model that could be bad.

Flapper part is DA97-00883E and fridge is RSG257 line.

The flapper is motor driven. If it's not opening I doubt its a bad flapper.
More like a bad motor or gear drive.

The motor is not available separately.
The OEM assembly is DA97-06473F.

Okay. Thanks.

This is my 3rd ice maker repair. We do use it a lot. Is it normal to have a lot of issues with in door ice makers?

The problem I usually see is that the flapper won't close/seal properly.

Mine seems to seal properly. If I pull it down with my fingers I can get ice like normal. When I release the flapper it closes but I suppose that is due to the spring.

Replaced ice flapper/motor on fridge - now display messed up

I replaced the ice flapper/motor on my Samsung fridge (Flapper part is DA97-00883E and fridge is RSG257 line). When I closed everything back up, the front display had all kinds of odd things lit up. I turned off the fridge and back on a couple of times and that didn't help. I also made sure that the 3 cable connections I made were snug. Any ideas?

The water in the door works. I can't switch it to ice. I can't really set anything on the display as it is all indistinguishable characters. The fridge/freezer are functioning normally.

Did you have the fridge unplugged when you did the work ?
You may need to unplug the fridge for a minute to reset the processor.

No. I was stupid thinking it was just low voltage wiring. I probably fried the control panel or maybe something bigger. Though the fridge works other than the display/ice/buttons.

You interrupted the data flow.
Unplug the fridge for several minutes.... it should reboot.

I have unplugged it several times. One time I waited at least 5 minutes. Could it need to be off longer than that?

The display now is totally blank after trying to turn it off and on one more time.

If the front panel was corrected properly it should start correctly.
You said all the plugs were on but possibly one isn't all the way on.

I took the 3 connections apart and put them back together. Nothing on the control panel. I think by not unplugging the fridge I fried something. I just hope it was only the control panel.

In looking at the old ice flapper assembly there is a sticker that says to make sure the blue and white wire aren't switched as the unit will not function properly. This is a blue wire and white wire connected via a wire clam connect from the multi wire connector that goes to the fridge and comes preinstalled from the factory. Is it possible this was improperly assembled? Is it possible the assembly doesn't work?

I am still thinking I fried something but it would be a shame if I order a new control panel and that wasn't the issue.

I supposed I could take the new ice flapper assembly out and put the old one back in and see if the control panel works.
