GE profile stove - metal insert for knob missing

I come home to find one of the stove knobs on the counter… wife says it fell off, and can’t get it back on. I realize after looking at the other knobs, the metal insert is missing so it won’t stay in place

Metal clip in pic is what I am missing
. Searched the entire kitchen floor and can’t find it 🤷🏼‍♂️

any idea where I can find this insert? Other than buying a new knob? I can find a cheap one on Amazon that looks like the insert will match. Any other suggestions?

Check to see if the metal clip is still on the shaft. It may be the same length as the shaft and not look like a separate part. It expands slightly inside the knob and can prevent the knob from being pushed on separately. If it is there, pry it off, insert into the knob and push back on.

If it is missing, a good source for spare parts is your trash handling center or appliances set curbside for disposal/

Not on the shaft. Before I realized the insert was missing I swapped one of the other knobs to see if it was the knob or the shaft. Other knob fit fine and knob that fell off would not stay on the other shaft. I then realized there was a little metal insert. I may just fabricate some thing from a small piece of sheet metal or a paper clip.

I've always kept old knobs and just extract the bushing if I need one.
Places like lowes and the depot sell universal knobs kits with those bushings.
D shaft bushings.

Very strange for the bushing to just disappear.

Bushing found!! It was clear across the kitchen under the wine rack. I’m suspecting the cats were swatting it around. Jeeesh. But I know where to get one if this happens again. Thanks!
