what size (HP) waste disposal?

Hi all,

What is a decent hp for a standard household waste disposal? I have a typical family of four that generates a normal amount of waste. I'd really like to limit the landfills by using the disposal more often. Is anybody familiar with the "Titan" brand? Is 1 1/4 HP too much? Any help will be apprciated.

thanks,
postsy

Hi
I'm not familiar with that brand, tho I did see one poster that said he thought it might be a re-branded Waste-King, which is pretty well known. I'd check on that first, hate to get stuck 4 yrs from now with a 10 yr warranty and no place to send it to.

1 1/4 hp is a pretty big unit. If its at a good price, then better to get a bigger one, then a smaller one. Many times you'll see 2 units, same company, both say 3/4 HP. The more expensive one will have better sound deadening, maybe all stainless guts, and a longer warranty. Thats what you need to look at, not just the price and HP rating.

I like and have used both Insinkerator and Waste King.
