Take kinks out of power cable

I have a fairly new electric iron and its cable is forever a mass of kinks, does anyone know how to get rid of them

Drape the cable (not ends) into a sink of hot water, massage the kinks out.

Kinks appear after cable (or rope) is bent, as in folding it for storage. Another common problem is twist, introduced by unsympathetic winding. If you're holding the coil in one hand, adding loops with another, to to feel how the cable resists being twisted one way or the other, and roll the working end as necessary to compensate.
