Ice Maker Bail Arm

Ice Maker bail arm will not return to the down Position after releasing ice. Can anyone tell me if the ice maker arm is spring loaded to return to the down position. I wasn't able to see one. plastic rubbing on plastic. I tried to post a pict but wasn't able to. I tried to lube all areas that made contact.

Usually the arm is spring loaded and the mechanism pushes it up, dumps the ice and then allows it to come back down to it's rest position or sitting on top of the ice.

Can you post the make model number for the fridge.

That looks like a Whirlpool part number. Is that the ice maker part number ?

If the arm is stuck in position then possibly the timer mechanism is stuck. In this type of ice maker the arm is not spring loaded. The weight of it causes it to come back down. If the arm is going up but not coming all the way down then the mechanism is at fault. It could be as simple as a defective timer motor.

The following video is one of many on you tube explaining how the unit works in detail.

That is a Control Module part num. There is a small like tower that this arm inside the module moves (swivels) that when bail arm is manually moved to shut off ice maker... this little tower I put Vaseline on (poss due to rubbing) and sticking or catching and I watched it cycle.. and it released back down for now. and that was earlier.. It had to be over an hr ago. I will watch it for another cycle and see if it releases..if so I will apply little more Vaseline on it. This little tower(very small) best I can describe is when you raise the bail arm and lock it in place to shut off the ice maker it will rest on this tower which had a very small round indentation. the only spring I have noticed is the coil spring also would this have something to do with it.
I will check back in a few once it cycles.

UPDATE
well It cycled again.. and the bail arm released back down to the resting spot twice that I know of
Im calling it fixed for now. but will keep an eye on it for next several days I think it prob get in the "stop" mode.. when ice keeps the bail arm in the up position.
