Small fridge: reset button ?
I have an 8 year old Frigidaire 8 cf fridge/freezer. About 2 times the size of a mini.
For the last 2 years off and on ,not very often, it shuts down in the middle of the night and doesnt turn back on. I was thinking I would have to replace it. I managed to get it going again by
unplugging it and waiting for a couple hours. And shaking it lightly. BUt this last time nothing worked. I went on YouTube one more time and this time there was a new video that showed the exact same compressor and control box as mine. The guy showed that on the little white box
easily accessible in the back, you just take a small screwdriver and turn the little knob counter clockwise. It resets it. And it worked great!!
But at some point in the future if it gets to doing this all the time I might replace the whole white box or its innards. What is this box???? Can I get a generic replacement?? Can I just replace the a part of the box???My compressor works great and shows no signs of wear. THis fridge is used only about 7 months a year. Maybe an ex Fridge tech can look at the pics and give me some info.

The compressor model isn't much help. We'll need the model number off the manufacturers ID plate.
I agree with Furd about the defrost timer but it doesn't look familiar to me.

model is FRT045GM
it looks like they house this timer in the white box..??If so it is an easy plug and play thing
and only about 10$. I noticed that the reset screw seemed to have a couple of clicks as you turned it to the left...I turned it all the way to the left.
It is working ok again but I want to get a new switch just in case..

Defrost Timer W10822278 Order now for same day shipping. 365 day return policy. RepairClinic.com
apparently this is the one that will work if it is wired correctly. The cheaper wont last for some reason. This one is 27$. It gets wired differently than the Chinese OEM module.

Almost any defrost timer will work. The wiring method can change and some use different times between defrost cycles.

Repair Clinic is a good company but their prices tend to be higher than most. I suggest that you do a Google with that part number to find the same timer at a lower price.
Defrost timers are generally 12 or 24 hour continuously running time switches. They have contacts that open the compressor circuit and close the defrost heater circuit once during that cycle, or in other words once or twice a day. The defrost cycle is of short enough duration that it does not cause the frozen foods to thaw. With higher end (more expensive) refrigerators they will often have one or two thermostats to either abort a cycle if the freezer is too warm or will abort during the cycle if the temperature rises too high.
