Garbage Disposal tripping GFCI

My garbage disposal recently, just out of nowhere, started tripping the GFCI where the switch is. I'd flip the switch and it would immediately trip without turning on at all. I swapped out the cord for the disposal, thinking it might be a faulty ground on that, but that didn't do anything. So then I switched out the GFCI that's to the right of my sink, which is hooked up to the switch for the GFCI. When I did that, the garbage disposal will at least turn on, but only for a half a second before turning off again and flipping the outlet. I did not try a new garbage disposal or a new switch yet. Any suggestions on what I might need to do to fix this issue?
