Is there asbestos in old singer machines?(Model 291U3)

Hello I'm wondering whether if there is asbestos in old singer sewing machines Model 291U3? Is there any in the motor, friction plates, washers or wiring?

Also please don't tell me to take samples or to have someone look at it. I prefer to only do that as a last resort. Also please don't tell me to ask singer customer service. They don't know as well.

Even assuming there was it wouldn't be dangerous. Asbestos has been demonized far beyond its danger. The danger comes from working with it for many years not casual exposure.

Welcome to the forums.

I'm curious to know why ?
I've seen this same exact question on several different websites recently.

The short answer is yes. There could possibly be small traces of asbestos in things like motor shims/washers, heat insulation/padding. Very doubtful in the external wiring like the power cord. Just using the machine the exposure to asbestos would be almost non existent. Different story if it was opened up for rebuilding...... not routine maintenance.
