Vacuum cleaner leaves black marks

I have a central vacuum system that the heads (M&S Systems) have rubber bumper bands that leave black marks on my almost white base boards and quarter round. This is hard to remove. Can you suggest a cleaner that will remove it and also what I might put on the rubber bumper band to stop it?

Put masking tape over the rubber bumpers and try not to hit the trim.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser probably take it right off. WD-40 probably work, too. As an alternative to the masking tape, you could try cleaning the rubber really good and then try wiping it with Armor-All.
