Possible short in Cuisinart slow cooker retractable cord

Hi. All. Have noticed that cooker would not stay on. I made sure the wall outlet works ok and left it unplugged in case it was overheated, though it had just started. That did not help. I did finally notice that the display would come on when I jiggled the cable, pulled it in and out some (it is retractable). I finally gave up on getting it to stay on and set it aside. I have not taken it apart yet so thought I would do some research about best approach. I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

If wiggling can make it work it sounds like something is loose. Perhaps a broken wire in the cord. The plug is also another possible problem area.

Thanks! I’ll take it apart this week and see if I can figure it out.

We took the cooker apart and the electrical connection looks fine. I have to assume the problem is inside the reel. Anyone know where we could find a replacement reel? I've done some google searches and I'm not having much luck. Thanks.
