Shop vac sparking? Normal?

I got a shop vac that looks like it was made in 2016 or so. Taking it apart to clean it out / check things out, I checked the brushes. Amazingly long! and still lots of life on them.

But I noticed a fair amount of sparking. I know a little how motors work / some sparks are inevitable. But to this level?

I did blow out the motor with compressed air thinking that would help. This is after I blew it out.

And in trying to take things apart, I wound up pulling 1 of the connectors out. It was out farther than this in the pic, but should it be able to get pushed back down farther?

Thanks!

All brushed motors spark. That is why you should never use your shop vac to suck up flammable liquids.
