Unhappy

I purchased an older home (built in 1931) about a year ago. My concern is the number of bulbs that I go through. I have replaced several in the basement about 3 or four times now (in one year!). Although the wiring throughout the house is old, the previous owners did update the main electrical box to circuit breakers. Any ideas?

hello LSummers,
there could be several possabilitys as to the cause of bulbs burning out fast.
1. it could be the sockets r getting corroded
2. could be loose connections in the wireing
3. could be vibrations from the uper floor causeing the bulbs filimant to break, espicely common in the elcheapo bulbs.
i had the exact same problem in my own home with the downstairs. i replaiced the lights checked all wireing connections, and bulbs still went out, i then install rough surface bulbs and since have had vertualy no problem. they cost a bit more but whin u figure the cost of all the bulbs im saveing $
