old house wiring

I have double pole wiring in my house In my bathroom I have two wires coming to a switch turn on the switch light comes on My problem I want to wire a vanity light I want to come off the existing swirch to the vanity light switch When I turn on ceiling light I have no power from my jumpers to new switch Help

Before you started, did your switch have a white wire attached to it? If so, you cannot extend the wiring from there. You'll need another new cable from your light to your switch box, in addition to the new cable you ran from the switch box to the new vanity light. Post back with more information and we can provide more details.

Re old house wiring

Both wires coming to the old switch are black. The wiring in my house is all black two wire with insulators.

Other than the two wires connected to the switch, are there any other wires in the box. If not, then you still have a switch loop and the information in my first post still applies. If you need more help, tell us exactly what you have done so far, and all the wires and connections you see at your ceiling fixture.
