Thumbs up

What are the normal electrical connections for a 240 volt electrical fed hot water heater, from the breaker to the heater? Color code for me since I am brain dead.

Cool

I'm not an electrician, but you need 10/2-with-ground off a 30 amp (will be double-pole) breaker to hookup an electric water heater (all in conduit). The black is hot and connect to black, the white will be hot (NOT neutral as normal- mark with a piece of black tape to indicate HOT, because there is no neutral on a water heater, and connect it to red, because that's what's there), and the ground is bare (to green). Good Luck! Edit: Of course, hook up black to one side and white to other on breaker, and the bare ground to ground bar in panel (just see where all other grounds are hooked up). You don't really have to mark the white wire with tape on a heater. I just do it out of habit. If you have any problems, just come back in here and ask one of the pros. I am definitely not one. Just do my own thing. LOL Good Luck!
