I think that you may be referring to outlet receptacles, not switches. If you are, then with the circuit breaker OFF, connect the black (hot)wire to the br*** screw on the receptacle, the white (neutral) to the silver screw, and the ground (bare) wire to the green screw. Hope this helps you. Good Luck!

Allrighty, then! If this site won't print br***, then it may print gl***, or cl***, or whatever. WHAT is with the ***??? lol

If you want to control an outlet from 3 locations, It will not work with (3) 3-way switches. What you need are (2) 3-way switches and (1) 4-way switch. Install the 3-way switches at the points nearest the source and nearest the outlet, with 4-way switch in between. To wire the outlet, run neutral (white) to the outlet as usual. Run the black wire from source to the common or marked terminal of the first 3-way switch. Run a black wire from the common or marked terminal of the second 3-way switch to the outlet. This leaves two unused terminals on each switch. Connect these terminals together using black or red and black wires. It makes no difference which terminal is connected to which, these wires are called runners. This completes 2 3-way switches. For the 3rd switch, place a 4-way switch between 1 and 2, using the black or black and red wires to connect to the switches 4 terminals. The switches will come with diagrams if you have trouble. Get the 3 way switches working first if possible, then add the 4-way. You can try wiring the 4-way different ways, it will do no harm other than the circuit will not work. If you have other questions, just come back and post again. This is not as hard as it sounds.
