Square D Service Panel Question

I am installing a Square D All-In-One Panel Catalog #SC816D200C.
I was told when I purchased it that it is a 200 Amp panel but inside it says the mains are 250 A Max and "The combined rating of the service disconnects shall not exceed 250 Amps." Does this mean that I have a 250 Amp panel. Is it necessary to size the service entrance conductors to 250 Amp.

Thanks

Thats a 200 A panel,, its in the cat number,, but I am not sure exactly which one it is,, thought I had a SQD catalog,,, but you need to size the conductors for the main brkr size,, if its 200, then 200. Usually use 3/0 copper or 4/0 al

Re:

If 200 is what you have, and it is going to be installed at a residential dwelling than your service conductors can be 2/0 CU, or 4/0 AL. Per NEC article 310.15 (B)(6). Most likely your meter base is only 200amp rated, if so than you cannot exceed it’s rating, if the panel is 250amp. The main should have the amperage stamped on it.

Re:

In the 2002, table 310.15(B)(6) still list 2/0. but in comercial you are correct to say 3/0..
