Black is hot, white is neutral, and green is ground (earth). I assume you have already verified that the power supply can handle 250 volts. Some handle various voltage automatically, some have a switch you need to set.

Hey grahamEd, it's so cool to hear from someone all the way across the pond! I've always been curious, what is the standard household voltage in the UK?

Ours is 110 volts for most lighting & appliances, TV, stereo, and the like, and 220 volts for major appliances such as electric clothes dryers, water heaters and ranges, etc. Both voltages are generally supplied as standard to most residential buildings in this country.

Also, what are the color codes for "hot", neutral and earth?
