Moving outlet

My heater is out and the guys are ready to put in the new one. One problem...the original heater and water heater were installed infront of the gas turn off and the electrical outlet the heating unit plugs in to. The heating folks want me to have the eletrical box moved for easy access. Ok. I think I can do that. Should I tie into the existing box and hook up another or should I leave that one alone and run another box from another source?
