Question

I an very interested in decorating a wreath on the front of my 97 Dodge Ram with a lighted Christmas wreath. I have seen household Christmas lights wired into and automotive system before, so I know it can be done, however I do not know how. (Without using a separate power inverter) Can anyone help? Thank you for any replies!

Rewire the lights to put enough bulbs in series to run off of 13-15V.

For example, a 25 light set uses 5V bulbs,
and I'd wire them so there are essentially
8 3 bulb circuits, and I'd sacrfice one bulb
to get and even 24.

You should be able to find 12 volt colored bulbs to make your wreath with. then just connect to the 12 volt system of your truck.

If you must use 120 volt lights then go to an electronics wholesale warehouse and buy a light duty power invertor changing the 12 volts DC to 120 volts AC. I use one of these to power my computer and printer in my truck.

Good Luck
