I have a 30 year old house that had a drop in stove. I am remodeling the kitchen to put in a free standing stove. My problem is the wiring coming out of the wall has one big red wire and one big black wire and a seperate braided groud wire. How do I wire a 220 plug with three wiring slots? The only whit neutral wire is the wiring for the exaust hood. help!

Wire a red and a black (two "hots") to the lugs for the diagonal slots, and the bare (ground) to the lug for "L" shaped slot. Done. This is a true 220 volt device, so there's no neutral.
