replacing an overhead flourescent light fixture

I want to replace an overhead flourescent light fixture with a new one. there are only 2 wires extending down from the celing inside the conduit ( 1 black wire and 1 white wire ). The light fixture has a black and white wire as well. Shouldn't there be another wire in the conduit or a ground wire ??? Do I need to run a ground wire ??? Please help !!!!

THe conduit,if continous ,may serve as the ground. The ground wire from the light fixture would attach to the j-box via the 10-32 screw hole in j-box.
