electrical outlet problem

I recently bought a pottery kiln that has a plug with three prongs, two are straight and one is U shaped. The problem is I have a old dryer outlet with two angled straight prongs, an upside-down L prong and a circle prong. The outlet is labled 30 Amps and 125/250V. Can I simply replace the outlet with a compatable one or will that be a problem?
