water heater cutoff

what height does/can the water heater cutoff need to be.

around here water heater must be 18 inches off floor gas and electric. four feet heater. That put top of heater around 5 1/2 feet. The pipe are above this. six feet. Can I put my cutoff above pipe and below ceiling to be legal.

Around here ,a disconnect is not required for a residential waterheater.Is that a local code?If so they (your local codes) may have height requirements on them.Ask your local inspector.

Out wtih Gas in with Electric Range

Changing my range and confronted with USA electrics for the 1st time - need some help! Socket behind gas range is std 120V. Junction box has 2 breakers labelled 'Range' with 50A fuse on each breaker and has 'fat' cables attached. Range breakers are next to each other - 'Dryer' breakers (2) are either side of Range breakers - Dryer is definately 240V. [B]Q1:[/B] To setup Range socket do I change the socket fixture and rewire to the new one using 'red' and 'black' to get 240V? [B]Q2:[/B] I want to fit a microwave over the range do I need a dedicated cct breaker for this? If so, will I need to rewire to get it?:confused:Read More

how do i wire a wall switch in a old home without a ground circuit. the home is about 60 years old has two wire cable to all switchs and outlets the wire is unknow to me it is all black insulation with a great deal of deteration. I am going to re wire but for now i need the switchs.
