Who left the lights on in the basement?
Is anyone aware of a 3 way light switch that is illuminated when the light it is controlling is turned on?
When someone comes up from the basement, leaves the lights on and closes the door there is no way to know if the lights were turned out without walking down the stairs.
If there was a switch that had a lamp or LED illuminated when the light was on (from either 3 way switch), a trip to the basement could be saved.
I look forward to obtaining a solution to my dilemna.

The solution to your problem probably is a stacked three way switch and pilot light. For this solution to work there would have to be a neutral in the upstairs switch box.
