Hello,
I want to run wiring take the source through a switch and then go to two ceiling lights and at the end of the run to a recetacle, with the receptacle always hot using #12 wire with ground. can I do this with only one wire?
thanks

If by one wire you mean one cable that is daisy-chained in the sequence you mentioned, the the answer is yes as long as that cable is 12/3 instead of 12/2.
Use the red wire of the 12/3 for a continuous hot, and the black for a switched hot. The red wire would not be used at the lights.
But it may be easier to run one 12/2 from the switch to the lights and another 12/2 from the switch to the receptacle.
