hard wired dryer

We just bought an older home with only the basement and one outlet in the kitchen grounded. The dryer was hard wired ( don't really know what that means, that is what we were told) My question, finally, is, how do we change it to a regular plug in, and is it hard to do? any help would be appreciated!!!! Thanks

"Hard-wired" usualy means the Branch-Circuit conductors from the panel terminate on a connection point inside the dryer. We'll need to know the type of cable that connects to the dryer.---The cable is probably metallic (metal armor) or non-metallic ("plastic" jacket). Also,in the panel, locate the circuit-breaker that the dryer is connected to so you can switch this circuit Off when needed.--Good Luck!!!
