question about split recepticles

i just replaced three split recepticles over my kitchen counter. when i put the cartridge fuses back in they all blew.

what have i done wrong?? i just replaced the wires the way that they came off of the old recepticle. there was one white ,red, black and ground.

i got the recepticles working but only after putting only one cartridge fuse into the holder that holds two for every split recepticle over the counter.

can anyone shed some light on this for me??

thanks ,,gord

hello gordow. Did you remember to break off the tab between the two brass screws on the receptacle where the black and the red wires should be? Sounds to me like that's your problem.

No problem! It's an honest mistake with an easy fix. Just remember to break the tab off the brass (hot) side only.

Now keeping the wife happy is a different story. That can be a REAL PROBLEM!! LOL!
