door bell

I have a two door bell system. One works fine, the other holds the plunger against the bell continually. They are on the same transformer. I already replaced the switch. If the bad bell wire is attached to the good bell post the symptom continues.

Sounds like you have a bad wire running from that door to the chime.

I suspect you have a 16-volt 10va doorbell transformer. If you do, you should upgrade to a 16-volt 20va or 30va transformer. A 10va transformer isn't enough for more than one chime.

GFI Receptacle Tester

I picked up GFI receptacle tester that tests standard and GFCI outlets. What a great tool to have on hand. I have a question about using it on GFCI outlets. There's a black button on the tester that instructions say to push IF testing GFCI outlets. So do I plug the tester in to the outlet, and take the reading while i'm holding the button down? Do I take the reading after pushing the button? My question sounds trivial but I'll only feel confident knowing exactly what it's telling me. Thanks to any whom can help!Read More

Hi im planning to rewire house to replace old knob $tubing,Service is 100 Amps ,panel has one 40 Amps double fuse and two rows of four fuses each[total eight].All 15 Amps fuses #1 FUSE serves the basement[four lights and four receptacules] #2&6 Hot watwer tank #3 ALL PLUGS FIRST FLOOR [ABOUT 6] TWO PLUGS ONE SECOND FLOOR BEDROOM AND 3 LIGHTS FIRST FLOOR. #4 one LIGHT ONLY///// IF YOU CAN BELEIVE IT #5 ONE PLUG FOR MICRIWAVE #7 kITCHEN LIGHT, FRIDGE PLUG,DR light,[all first floor] lights for 3 beedrooms,bathroom,two bedrooms plugs[second floor] The panel seems to be in good conditon and i was hopping no to change it for a while.
