Question New circuit

I have recently picked up a new APC battery backup for my PC, it needs a plug that is a 30A 125v locking plug. I realize this needs to be on its own circuit, and have a 220 line that is not being used, is it possible to replace the 220 breaker with a 30amp, making that a dedicated line for the UPS? Is this something I should try myself or should I consult a professional? Also, my main line is only a 60amp...is that going to overload my electrical if I install that? Any help would be appreciated....

First off what is the size of wire on the 220 line? If the wires are at least number 10 then it can be done but if they are any smaller like #12's it can't be done. How many conductors are there? What are there colours? Is there a ground wire? If there is no ground then don't use it for the system Your better to run new.
