No Power

WE ADDED NEW WIRING TO THE BASEMENT. EVERYTHING WORKED FINE UNTIL I PLUGGED IN A VAC. EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN. THE CIRCUIT WAS NOT TRIPPED. THE TESTER SHOWED THAT NO POWER FLOWED. I HAVE CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS AND THEY ARE ALL OKAY. THE NEW WIRE WAS STARTED AT AN OUTLET. OLD WIRE SHOWS POWER, NEW WIRE DOES NOT. COULD I HAVE RUINED THE NEW WIRING? I JUST FINISHED MUDDING ALL THE WALLS. PLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO TAKE THE WALLS DOWN.

If there is a GFCI recept in the circuit check to be sure it is not tripped. Check each splice and termination in the downstream circuit from where you have power then don't have power. If the breaker didn't trip, then it is posible but not probable that the wiring itself has failed by shorting.
