Sizing service

A few electrical questions for new construction- 1. I have sized my service and came up with approx 250A. I talked to the Power Company and they said that Meter Bases only come in 200A and a 320A? Can my main panel be sized larger than the rating of the meter base? Or have I done something wrong on sizing the Service Panel? 2. In determining the number of receptacles per circuit (see above website bottom of page) why am I coming up with so many receptacles per circuit? Do you not count Light, Bathroom vent fans, etc.? How do I connect all three of the following cables in the switch box, where I will put a single-pole light switch: Into the switch box is coming (a) the 14/2 power cable, (b) a 14/2 cable that goes to a light and then terminates and (c) a 14/3 that goes to a receptacle (a 14/2 from there then goes to another light and terminates). For starters, I'd guess that all 3 grounds share one wire nut and are pig-tailed to the switch. That leaves 3 blacks, 3 whites and 1 red, with only two screws on the switch. Thanks.Read More
