ceiling fan won't change speeds Help
Okay,
New ceiling fan!!! We took down the old ugly one and replaced with a new 20$ one.
Wired the new one the same as the old.
Blue and black on fan to black in the house.
White on fan to white in the house.
The ground from fan is attached to box is ceiling.
There is on one wall switch.
The fan is a three speed and will not change speeds. Is the grounding wrong or could the fan be faulty???

How are you changing speeds? By pulling the chain? You don't have a speed control installed at the switch do you? Does pulling the light switch wire control the light properly? Can you turn the fan on/off with the switch, just not control speed? Does turning the wall switch off also turn off the fan? the light?
Answer some of these questions and we'll help you out.

Changings speeds/ Pull Chain
No speed control
fan/light turns off at switch
when pulling the light switch---- turns off light properly.
when fan is on, I tried turning the the light on/off. The light operated properly and I noticed just a very slight , barely noticeable difference in fan speed.
Thanks for the quick response!

Well, first of all a $20 fan is probably not going to perform all that well anyway. So my first recommendation is that if you don't want to be changing it out in a year or so, get a Hampton Bay or something similar. You can get a decent fan for around $50 at Home Depot.
Now, back to your problem. I would say either the switch is shot or it's just a cheap fan and the speeds aren't much different anyway. Call the store you got it from and ask them if they know anything about the fan, tell them the symptoms you're having and see if they have any ideas. Sorry, I can't help you out more, but being a new fan, there's really not a lot of options to it. It's either bad, or just plain sucks (to be blunt.)
