Drawings For Constr. Permits

Hi,

I need to submit drawings of my proposed electrical circuits for a new bathroom I'm building. Is there software / freeware or are there standards for making such drawings?

Any help is appreciated...

A simple hand sketch will be fine. Show the location of the shower, tub, toilet, sink and door. Show the position if the receptacle(s) (mark it GFCI protected), fan, heater and lighting. Indicate what circuits each is on and the breaker rating of that circuit and what else is on it. Show all measurements and distances between things.

outlet won't reset

The other morning I was frying up bacon in our kitchen with an electric frying pan. Something must have overloaded the circuit and now the outlet does not work. Nor do 4 other outlets in the kitchen. To attempt to resolve this, I first went to the breaker box and expected to see a breaker tripped. However that was not the case. I then proceeded to check the GFIs in the kitchen and none of them were tripped either. There are 4 other outlets in the kitchen that are working fine that must be on a different circuit. I've tried to locate other GFIs in the house and outside the house but cannot find any. (There are two more in the kitchen both of which are working and are not tripped.) Is there anything else I might be missing that could be causing these four outlets to be inoperable? I did flip the breaker on both the kitchen circuits just to see if that would reset the outlets but it did not. This is a new house (3 yrs old). Any help would be greatly appreciated.Read More

I recently had my electrical service panel changed by a contractor who quoted $1100-1300 to do it. I signed the authorization with that figure on it. This panel change was just one of a few jobs I hired him to do. However, he is insufferable to deal with and he opted out of our agreement. Now he wants to charge me $1200 for the panel change PLUS another thousand dollars for phone calls, his labor time, his project manager's time, etc. Nothing has been signed other than an authorization for him to do the work involved (insurance paid work) and an authorization for the panel change. I haven't done any of this before so I don't know what is normal. Can someone please advise?Read More
