Both switches must be a three way. Read up on those and I'm sure it'll come easy to you.

Here's an overview of what is required:
  • Read two good books on home wiring.
  • Turn off the breaker.
  • Add an "old work" electrical box where you want the second switch.
  • Run a new 12/3 (14/3 if on a 15-amp breaker) between the two switch boxes (through the attic or crawl space if possible -- otherwise drywall damage & repair will be required).
  • Take out the old switch and throw it away (after carefully recording all the connections that were there).
  • Put a 3-way switch in each box.
  • Once you get this far, post back and we'll tell you how to hook it up.
