gfi outlet

I am remodeling my kitchen. I have replace most of the electric, brought everything up to code. There is one gfi outlet supplied from old AC cable. it also supplies an outlet another outlet through the gfi. It trips when I try to connect the receptacle to the metal box! What is wrong?
Thanks alot

I have had them trip from twisting and stress on the yoke, sometimes those boxes just to small to get all the stuff into. You jus have to be careful and tuck the stuff in so very carefully. If you cant make it work you may have to change the box.

Curiousity on my part when you say "It trips when I try to connect the receptacle to the metal box!" Does this mean it works fine when it is hanging outside the box? If this is the case sberry27 has a very valid point, another thing to look at though is there any nicks or cuts in the wire your trying to put back in the box? Is there any excess exposed wire around the connection points? Are the wires on the right connection points (black and white on the right sides of the receptacle? These things can cause you problems too.
