wiring the bathroom

hi,
i'm rewiring the bathroom. here is what i have.

1) two GFCI outlets - in series
2) vent fan (controlled by switch)
3) three light fixtures (all controlled by same switch)

i wanted to wire everything on one 20amp breaker.

can i use 12AWG for the receptacles and 14AWG for the lighting or shall i use 12AWG for the whole thing?

recommendations/suggestions?

Code requires #12 on 20amp circuits.

Split receptacles in a series?

In my basement I would like split receptacles in a series of 5 so that I can turn the flourescent lights on by a swith at the bottom of the stairs while having constant power to the other half of the outlet. I realize that 12-2 from box to outlet to ONE switch will work. How can I get the other outlets in line to follow suit?Read More

I recently began to upgrade the electrical systems in my home from mutiple fuse boxes to one main breaker box. What is the code for bonding a box and why would you do this or not do this. Also, what is the code for grounding? Ground rod, cold water pipe or both. I live in Western New York.Read More
