ceiling fan light

We are trying to change a light switch in the light part of a ceiling fan. There are three wires to hook the switch too. One blue, one black, one white. There are three black wiires and three whote wires coming from the light fixture. Each time we have hooked it up it blows the fuse. Help!!!!!

IF this is just a switch with 2 wires on it,hook it up as follows....

1. the three black wires from light to 1 wire on the switch
2. the three white wires from the light to the 1 white wire
3. the blue wire to the other wire from the switch

Wiring a light: new construction

I'm trying to wire a new ceiling light. When I open the box in the ceiling there are 5 red wires connected with a wire nut and 5 white connected with a wire nut. There are also one purple wire and one yellow wire. The yellow and purple seem to correspond to the switch in the wall. How do I know which wires to use?

Can anyone let me in on a secret...on just how to handle hooking up the wires, on the screws that are loose when they are backed out. They are loose to the point of being to push them in and out. My wires were just long enough to connect them up. It was quite a struggle top get the wires in their proper place. The old GFI that I took out had "stationary" screws (which seemed far superior).
