lights flash w/refrigerator's "click"

This problem has been ongoing for several years. My 1924 house is mostly rewired. (I've discovered some old wires still in use.) When my refrigerator makes a click (don't know what causes it), electrical items in use "flash". I've called the power co., they say I need a new refrigerator. They still have not sent me the $. :( In the mean-time I've checked the wire connections to the breakers. Yes, some where loose, one was to the frig. Last week the power was out (local area) around 4 hours. Since then the problem is back. Have not, yet, repeated my steps, but would like to know is there anything else I need or should do? Something just does not seem right. Thanks to all for ideas ~PEACE

 

The power company will come out eventually and put a monitor on your line if you bug them enough and convince them that you've done all you can on your side.
