Not sure there is going to be one answer to that question. It depends on what you will be using that tester for. If it is for home wiring, then a simple $15 digital tester will be everything you ever need (assuming you know about phantom voltage). Somebody will post here with the name of a more expensive tester that isn't fooled by phantom voltage -- that'd be a good extra if you want to spend more money.

On the other hand, if you are going to be doing small circuit electronics, an entirely different tester would be in order.

And if you wanted to measure the power usage of your major appliances, then another tester would be called for.

I'm no expert in test equipment, but I know that you'll get better answers if you provide more information about what you will be doing with that tester, and some idea of your budget (e.g., are you willing to spend $3000.00 on a tester?).

All of them will do just fine. I'd spend $13 on an analog (with a swinging needle) multimeter. Analog meters are harder to fool with phantom voltage.
