Fibre Optics Lighting?

Since I could not find a site to ask a question about "lighting",
I will begin here.........(Forgive me if I am in the wrong site)

I am looking for information about and considering using fibre optics lighting as ceiling lights for a "great room". The ceiling peak will be up about 14-16 feet. The room will be approx. 22' x 32' or a little over 700 ft sguare.

Since I do not like the idea of having to change bulbs at that height, fibre optics lighting may be an alternate solution albeit, a bit more expensive than conventional lighting.....

A recent TV show briefly mentioned such lighting and it peaked my interest. Can someone provide information?
