500 watts light

I just bought a 500 watts shop light. Just wondering how do I know if the current receptacles will not overlaod?

You will need to determine what else is on this same circuit and add up all the wattages to see where you are at.

Tough Problem

Please advise. One leg of my incoming power (at the panel) reads about 90V. The other leg is fine. When anything is plugged into the kitchen outlets (only certain ones), the power drops to almost zero (as read with meter). There are no GFCI's on the circuit. I have never ran across this before. Height for receptacles and switches

I'm remodeling an older home that had electricity installed after it was built. Currently most of the receptacles are mounted either in the floor or on the baseboards. Of course I'm going to put them in the walls, but how high should I mount them? Some of them will have to be a certain hight to accomodate countertops, etc, but I just wondered if there was a standard height for a typical wall outlet. I also wondered what the standard height for mounting switches is; mine are currently all over the place. Thanks in advance, TomRead More
