Bathroom outlet

Just wondering if it is OK to locate a outlet 12" to 13" above the floor in a bathroom. This outlet would have the GFCI installed and feed two more outlets located above the vanity.

GFCI question

Recently my in-laws had their bathroom remodeled. Part of the process involved the addition of an outlet where there previously had not been one. It is a GFCI outlet. Pushing the test button results in the bathroom light and exhaust fan (which have seprate switches) going off. Presumably, they are connected to the load side of the GFCI, so this would be normal. What's strange is that the outlets on the GFCI itself remain energized after tripping the test button. What could be causing this?Read More

IC Hi-Hats and attic insulation....

Just installed hi-hats recently in my attic. I used IC cans, understanding that these can be used with insulation - but, what are the rules with this? The guys at the big 'orange' give me confilicting answers. Is it a three inch space from the can and nothing above, can I insulate over the cans? I have not hooked up the power yet. Thanks!
