no electricity in one room
My husband was painting my son's room when he knocked the lamp off of the dresser and shorted out the outlet. He has replaced the outlet and everything came on. As soon as the air conditioner came on, all of the lights in my son's room went out. They came back on as soon as the air conditioner cut off. When the air conditioner came back on, all of the electricity went out again. We haven't been able to get it to come on since then. What should we check or change?

Check to see if the A/C and the plugs are on the same circuit. Assuming the A/C is on a 220v plug, if this is true, then you will need to do some rewiring. (You can't have 110 and 220 on the same circuit.) While you're at it, check for loose connections and possibly broken wire connections.
