Unhappy garage door opener

I installed a Sears 1/2 hp garage door opener. After making all the suggested adjustment, the opener properly opens the door with the control panel or remote. However, it will not close completely with the remote. (It starts and then stops and reverses). If the control panel button is held continuously, the door will close all the way. If just punched, the door responds the same way as with the remote. The sensors are properly aligned and there are no obstructions in the way. Any suggestions out there?

Disconnect the opener from the door with the pull cord. Operate the door manually to see if it goes up and down smoothly. Then operate the opener up and down without the door and see if it travels all the way in both directions.

Did you follow the instruction for setting up the door after it was installed? There is a very specific procedure you have to follow to set the upper and lower limits. It requires opening and closing the door in a specific order to get it set.

Question

Also I believe that there is a force adjustment on them, maybe it needs to be set a little higher.
