recessed lighting

Hi,
I'm trying to replace two existing lights (running off of one switch) with two recessed lights. The problem is; 1 of the lines is 3 wire(red, white, black), the other two are 2 wire (white, black). The light is also two wire.
I have tried to wire this a variety of different ways without sucess. any thoughts??

How was it wired before? What other wires are at the light with red/blk/wht.? What wires are connected to the switch?

Look at the wiring in your switch box. You need to describe the wiring in that box as well as the wiring in each of the fixture boxes and then we can help you out. The more specific you are with your description the easier it will be for us to help.

Multi-room Baseboard Heat

I am finishing my basement to add a family room, bedroom, bathroom and den. I plan to heat the FR, BR and den with electric baseboard heaters. The family room will have two 1500 Watt heaters, the bedroom and den will each have one 1500 watt heater. I would like each room to have it's own thermostat. Can I do this on one 30 amp 240 volt circuit? I know the wattage would fit on that size circuit but how do I continue the circuit from one room to another keeping in mind that a separate thermostat controls each room? And what is the difference between single and double post thermostats? Thanks!!Read More

as part of an interior remodeling project, i want to make it possible to feed electricity and water from the house, under a bluestone walkway, and terminate them behind the house for a future waterfall, or whatever. no specific project yet, so no need to turn the water and electric services on right away, but i want to be ready. (i imagine i will have to lift or break up a portion of the bluestone and repair later, since i doubt i can tunnel below it.) i figured i could run a length of 2 inch schedule 40 through the house wall, and terminate it (somehow!) in the back yard - what is the best way to do that so i can add electric/water later? can i run both feeds through the same conduit? any ideas from somebody who has done this before? what is the best way to prevent the conduit from being a handy way for vermin from walking into the house?Read More
