This is personally,,, if I am doing a new home or addition type of thing, new work, I run all the lights on 14 and the recepts on 12. I tend to want to seperate them and find working in ceilings it is just much easier and I also tend to use plenty of circuits so 14 is fine, they connect to fixtures easier and I want to get lights on to facilitate the work area. Also you dont have to shut off light circuits to work on the others. In recepts I want to keep voltage drop to a minimum so I use 12. If you going to share circuits for lights and recepts do yourself a favor and use 12.
